DESCRIPTION
Dextro Tablet is a combination of cough suppressants, expectorant and antihistamine.
Each tablet contains Dextromethorphan hydrobromide 10 mg, Terpin hydrate 125 mg and Chlorpheniramine maleate 2 mg.
INDICATION
Symptomatic relief of cough associated with allergies, hay fever and common cold.
DOSAGE
Recommended Dose :
Adults : 1 tablet every 6 hours.
Children 6-12 years : ½ tablet every 6 hours or as prescribed by a physician.
CONTRAINDICATION
Hypersensitivity to any of the ingredients.
Patients who are receiving monoamine oxidase (MAO) inhibitor therapy.
WARNING & PRECAUTION
Should not be given to patients at risk of developing respiratory failure.
Caution is needed in patients with a history of asthma and it should not be given during an acute attack, in patient with glaucoma, prostatic hyper trophy and breathing problems.
Avoid driving a motor vehicle or operating machinery while taking this product.
Interactions with Other Medicaments :
Severe and sometimes fatal reactions have been reported following administration of this product to patients receiving MAO inhibitors.
This product may increase the effect of other drugs that cause drowsiness including antidepressants, alcohol, other antihistamines, pain relievers, anxiety medicines, seizure medicines and muscle relaxants.
Pregnancy and Lactation :
Safety in pregnancy and lactation has not been established. Therefore, this drug should be used in pregnancy only if clearly needed and caution should be exercised when this drug is administered to a nursing woman.
UNDESIRABLE EFFECTS
The following may be possibly occur : dizziness, drowsiness, headache, loss of appetite, nausea, dryness of the eyes, nose and mouth, blurred vision, difficulty urinating, or excitation.
Overdose and Treatment :
Symptoms of overdose include nausea, vomiting, dry mouth, flushing, large pupils, hyperactivity or hallucinations. Treatment consists of general and supportive care only.
